12 March 2016 at 7.30pm Passion & Penitence Lent, and in particular Holy Week (the period of Christ's 'passion') was one of the richest sources of inspiration for many of Europe’s Renaissance composers. As the tension mounted in the approach to the crucifixion and resurrection, the music accompanying the liturgy would become more emotional and highly wrought. In this programme on the eve of Holy Week Chapelle du Roi performs music from Lent and Christ's Passion.
